The Universal Message Hub (UMH)
The Universal Message Hub (UMH) supersedes AMLtrac’s SWIFT Message Screening capabilities and provides a screening platform that is both versatile, flexible, and future proof. It is capable of simultaneously screening messages of more than one format be they, for example, FIN, MX, FPS, ACH and re-publishing them either in the same or different format or as an API.
UMH’s enables the onward routing of messages to be simplified e.g., an inbound GBP MT103 can be transformed into a faster payment for onwards transmission. Alternatively, a message produced in the back-office can be routed to an alternative correspondent bank, in any format, to take advantage of different pricing structures that they may have in place. Most importantly from a business perspective there only needs to be one place for the screening of inbound and outbound messages irrespective of type and, constantly, there only needs to be one set of procedures and controls to manage the whole of your messaging environment.
The forthcoming ISO20022 changes to SWIFT messages from December 2022 AMLtrac’s functionality has been significantly improved to provide the Universal Message Hub. The Universal Message Hub will take any message in any format and convert it into another defined message format. For example, the UMH can take for example messages in a swift MX and pass them on as an MT Fin format. Messages may also be transformed for easy integration into back-office solutions. It can also take any payment message format and convert it to API feeds for transmission to alternative payment solutions such as the Mastercard or Tunes payment rails.
UMH has a series of Message Reader/Writer programs for each type of message supported. New Reader/Writer programs can be added at any time to meet any new or bespoke requirement.
The Readers read the inbound and outbound for messages of the relevant type and pass on the original message and selected fields to the Message Checker for screening. The Message Checker will screen the message and, if it is not quarantined, respond accordingly using the appropriate Writer for onwards processing.
Quarantined messages will go to the appropriate queue for manual approval or failure. Approved messages will be advised back to the appropriate Writer.
UMH has a complete and strong audit trail of all messages. All messages checked by the Message Checker will be stored in AMLtrac in their original form. For audit purposes there is a complete record of the processes that the message underwent including the involvement of any user and the conclusions and decisions that they made.
